The Trailing Edge Dimming Actuator is designed for installation within a distribution board and is particularly suitable for high-powered dimming control of a wide range of load types, including incandescent lamps, 230 V AC halogen lamps, and low-voltage halogen lamps operated through either electronic or conventional transformers. Unlike leading edge technology, this actuator utilizes trailing edge phase-cut dimming, which ensures smoother, more efficient, and quieter operation, making it especially well-suited for capacitive loads such as modern electronic transformers and energy-efficient lamp technologies.
Equipped with robust dimming channels, the actuator provides stable and reliable performance even under high load conditions. Its advanced circuitry is designed to minimize flickering and acoustic noise, which often occur with sensitive lamp types. In addition, the device incorporates comprehensive protection mechanisms against overload, short circuits, and overheating, ensuring safe operation and extending the lifespan of both the actuator and the connected lighting equipment.
Configuration and parameterization are carried out using the ETS (Engineering Tool Software), allowing flexible adjustment of operational settings. These include defining minimum and maximum dimming levels, adjusting dimming curves to suit specific lamp characteristics, setting fade times for smooth transitions, and enabling functions such as soft start and soft off to enhance lamp longevity and user comfort. Safety and diagnostic features can also be customized to meet project-specific requirements.
The actuator connects seamlessly to the KNX bus system through a standard bus connection terminal, ensuring full interoperability with other KNX devices in the network. Through KNX integration, the dimmer can be controlled individually or as part of a group, and it can also participate in advanced building automation functions such as scene control, time scheduling, or centralized monitoring and remote operation.
